Reginald Squires was born on 11th January 1892. He entered M.S. Form IV2 as a Day Scholar at King Edward VI Grammar School on 12th September 1906. At the time of his admission to the school his father is recorded as William Henry Squires, Glass House Pot-maker, 69 Brettell Lane, Amblecote. Reginald had previously been educated at Wordsley C. School (Elementary). Reginald was exempt from tuition fees which were met by Staffordshire County Council for 3 years after which time he became a Student Teacher in the school. He left King Edward VI Grammar School from Form VI S.T. on 27th July 1909 to take employment teaching in an Elementary School.
